My art practice centres around people and figures.  In this mural I wanted to bring together the images created by the pupils with my own to celebrate the rich history of theatre, protest and innovation.

I like to help shape the stories of protest and celebration.  Using a range of art approaches, I develop the opportunity to really look at how communities create value and stand up for value, from the speeches of Eleanor Marx, The Spark of Lenin, the chartists and the performers and shapers of a place such as Grimaldi.  I researched how the workers of Wales gave riches to Hugh Myddleton, who through his auto-didactic approach to life was able to bring fresh water from Hertfordshire and change people's lives.  I worked with the pupils to realise their images from a small scale to a large scale, encouraging them to stick with the difficulty of realising an image where they had to use all of their bodies to make the work, gaining an awareness of themselves in space and what it means to persevere to create something on a large scale.
